In collaboration with @creativeflow.to, we have been successful in reaching hundreds of undergraduate students already and providing information on the importance of mental health and resources available on- and off-campus to all students. We can’t wait to continue presenting to students and increasing our reach to the thousands!

Executives

Aqsa Zahid

Founder

Aqsa is a graduate student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Toronto Scarborough. She is interested in researching stigma associated with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, Aqsa aims to increase knowledge and awareness of mental health and well-being in many age and cultural groups. She hopes to work with many talented individuals in the community to meet this goal. In her free time, Aqsa enjoys painting, cooking, and spending time with her pet cat!

Nimra Zahid

Advisor

Nimra is currently a high school student who has a passion for teaching and informing others about various topics such as mental health. Nimra’s aim is to become a teacher or nurse in the future, and through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, she hopes to learn techniques of educating individuals of different ages and communities. Nimra looks forward to working with the other teammates to work for a better tomorrow. It is in her best interest to introduce topics such as mental health in various communities. In her free time, Nimra enjoys watching K dramas and listening to Kpop!

Kobika Pava

Mental Health Educator

Kobika is a first year student in the Psychological and Health Sciences program at the University of Toronto Scarborough. She is hoping to do the specialist co-operative program in Mental Health Studies. Kobika is intrigued about novel drug therapies that are currently being researched to combat mental health disorders. Through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, she hopes to highlight the importance of having mental health discussions across ethnic communities. Some of her favourite things include photography, video editing and reading!

Ewa Reid

Mental Health Educator

Ewa is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Toronto and a Natural Nutrition Diploma from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Ewa has provided nutritional counselling in clinical and private practice for several years. She has also taught nutrition science and counselling modalities at Rhodes Wellness College and the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. Through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, Ewa strives to improve mental health outcomes by educating others on the powerful connection between nutrition and mental well-being. When she is not working or studying, Ewa enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children.

Mabel Zhao

Mental Health Educator

Mabel is an undergraduate student in the third year of the Mental Health Specialist program at the University of Toronto. She is passionate about mental health and plans to pursue a PhD in psychology. Through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, Mabel hopes to connect those in need with mental health resources to help people realize their fullest potential. In addition to academic pursuits, Mabel enjoys creative writing, poetry, and painting miniatures.
 

Nusrat Iftikhar

Mental Health Educator

Nusrat has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Hons) from York University and plans to further pursue a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She aspires to see the diverse lived experiences represented in the area of psychology in general. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching sitcoms, and travelling.

Jafarul Hoque

Peer Educator

Jafarul is an undergraduate student in the Biomedical science program at Toronto Metropolitan University. He spends most of his time travelling and exploring the world when he is not studying for midterms and exams. Through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, Jafarul aims to work with community members to enhance his understanding of mental health and well-being among various age groups within diverse cultural communities.

Nour Yassine

Research Volunteer and Financial Coordinator

Nour has recently received her B.A. Honours Psychology with Thesis at the University of Windsor and is aiming to obtain her master’s in Clinical Psychology. Her research interests focus on memory, emotion, and therapeutic/legal applications. As a member of Seeds 4 Tomorrow, Nour hopes to work alongside a skillful team to increase awareness and implement changes within the community regarding mental health. Her hobbies include reading, playing piano, and roller skating.

Faizan Chauhan

Research Volunteer

Faizan recently graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University majoring in biology and a double minor in psychology and criminology. He is interested in researching the associated causes of psychological disorders and determining any gaps in mental health research across all ages. Through Seeds 4 Tomorrow, he aims to learn more about the combinational effects of the environment and biology that cause mental health issues. He hopes to raise awareness about the stigma associated with seeking mental health aid among various cultural groups. In his free time, Faizan enjoys reading and playing volleyball!

Iqra Zahid

IT Director

Iqra is an undergraduate student at Ontario Tech University. An area of psychology Iqra is most fascinated by is the evolution of psychology. With various cultures, practices and periods in history, she likes to take a deep dive into the thinking of the human mind. With such factors for instance, the society’s definition of human life, Iqra finds herself comparing and contrasting how mental health from the present and past in history may be viewed differently. She hopes to help raise awareness on the importance of mental health and make a difference. Iqra loves engineering, art, and challenges.

 

Theresa Yu

IT Assistant

Theresa is an undergraduate student at University of Toronto Scarborough. One area of psychology she is interested in is how different therapies help people with mental illness learn new things and overcome challenges related to emotional regulation and distress tolerance. She knows from experience that many mental illnesses can make engaging in relationships, career, and education very challenging. She aims to learn more about and raise awareness of the resources and practices that anyone can use to improve mental wellbeing. Theresa also enjoys computer programming, drawing, memes, and singing!
