Planting seeds of mental health knowledge today to grow awareness and plan for a better tomorrow.
Our Goal
The goal of this organization is to increase mental health knowledge and awareness among Ontario citizens to work towards reducing stigma. We’d like to increase such knowledge in many ways such as mentorship programs to build awareness and success in obtaining careers in psychology, workshops to teach young children about the importance of mental health and techniques they may use to overcome challenges they face in their daily lives, and group sessions with individuals from communities in which mental health is stigmatised in order to build an understanding of mental health importance and reducing stigma. We plan to achieve this through our many projects, where we will create a safe, enriching, and engaging space for our community to explore a variety of aspects of mental health and well being and their impact.
Prior to beginning graduate school, Aqsa had the desire to create a registered non-profit organization. Her main goal and mission was to really increase knowledge about the importance of mental health within her community. As a South Asian student, her initial plan was to begin a project geared towards newcomers to Canada and first-generation immigrants. But she understood how ambitious this goal was. In an attempt to take smaller, yet equally meaningful, steps in meeting her goal, she decided to create Seeds 4 Tomorrow: an organization with the goal of “planting seeds of mental health knowledge today to grow awareness and plan for a better tomorrow.” To meet the goals of the organization, Aqsa recruited a team of motivated, passionate, and intelligent volunteers who will work on various projects and help make the aspirational plans become a reality.
